The Battle

The undead host appear in the pale light of a dreary day, despite the best efforts of the Red Duke's minions they would prove little threat to the combined elven-bretonnian force.

Peasants see off the charge of vicious ghouls comfortably, absorbing casualties and using their rank bonus to crumble the undead.

Silver helms crash into the serried ranks of the zombies, annihilating them with lance and hoof.
After the Battle
I have discovered another two references to our people relating to a further battle at a place called Lake Tranquil. The first is a single line from another of those Bretonnian epics:
...and the giant did emerge from the shadows, and it and Sir Truffaldino did rush together like two boars, and Sir Truffaldino proved himself the equal of any elven prince, and smote the giant all to powder...
The second was smuggled to me by one of the common folk. Apparently it is a transcribing of a (clearly quite impassioned) speech given shortly after the battle:
Comrades! What you have been told happened at the Blessed Lake is all a lie! It was the elves and the common people of Lake Tranquil who defended our homes! The Lady Iselda, Sir Truffaldino and his so-called grail knights are all frauds! I have seen them run like dogs, their supposed holy powers to no avail! The monsters they claimed they had to protect us from were nothing more than our fellows from the next village over, forced to cannibalism because they were starving! Starving because of the oppression these nobles inflict upon us! Rise up against them, comrades, and we will build a better Bretonnia, a place of liberté, égalité and fraternité! The Republic of Bretonnia starts now!
Next time: As the Blood Knights advance, will it be a bridge too far for the Elves and Bretonnians?

Sapristi! What are those revolting peasants doing with that parchment? This is what comes of teaching them to read!
